The next meeting will be on the 16th April 2025 and our current book-of-the-month is Claire Fuller's 'Unsettled Ground'. We meet monthly in the Hungate Explore Café at 7:30pm to discuss our ‘book-of-the-month’ and other books recently read (& occasional film etc.) by anyone in the group.

The LHCG has arranged for Christmas drinks at the nearby Moxy Hotel, starting at 7pm, and will be having a quiz starting at 8pm. Drinks will be at your own expense, but there is a 10% discount for residents (just ask the staff)! All Leetham House residents are invited.

It has been a few months since our last social gathering and many new people have moved in. The LHCG will be hosting a social event in the courtyard garden on Sunday, 14th July 2024 from 2pm to 4pm. Coffee, tea and nibbles will be provided, and we are looking for volunteers to make food, such as sandwiches and cakes. Anyone wishing to volunteer, please contact us.

The Leetham House Community Group (LHCG) will be holding its second Annual General Meeting (AGM). This will be an important meeting for the LHCG, because it will be holding its first committee elections since being established two years ago in November 2021. The AGM is open to all leaseholders (owners), resident or not. Anyone interested in joining the committee are encouraged to contact us.

Following the successes of previous quizzes, the LHCG has organised a Midsummer Quiz Night at the Moxy Hotel on Wednesday, 21st June 2023, starting at 7pm. All residents are invited to join.

To celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, like many other communities around the country, the LHCG will be organising a get together in the Courtyard Garden. They will be providing coffee and tea, but are looking for volunteers to make food, such as sandwiches, sausage rolls, pies, quiches, scones, cakes and tarts. If anyone wants to bring their own drinks, including alcohol, please bring your own glasses too. Also, as there is limited garden furniture, the LHCG would like to encourage people to bring along their own tables and chairs. For those who have balconies facing the courtyard, it would be great if you could decorate them.

The LHCG Chair, Dawn, and her partner Howard would like to invite residents for a Wine & Cheese Quiz. The quiz will consist of 25 questions based on seven wines and seven cheeses. A contribution of £5.00 is suggested to raise funds for the LHCG.

The LHCG is planning a coach trip to Barnard Castle on Saturday, 10th September 2022. The cost is £25 per person, which will cover the return trip. There are a number of notable places to visit, which may require a separate entrance fee, such as the Bowes Museum (in photo) and the castle itself, as well as a number of local shops and some nice cafes to have lunch.

Join the LHCG for a Treasure Hunt around York starting in the Leetham House Courtyard Garden and ending there for nibbles, a drink and conversation. Registration, to pick up your questionnaire, will start at 2pm and prizes will be given in the form of vouchers from the local supermarkets. The circular route of around 2km will take approximately 90 minutes and will involve answering 24 questions. It is an outdoor event. No specialist knowledge is required, but sensible shoes and weather appropriate clothing are. The cost is £2 per person, payable when you pick up the questionnaire.

The Moxy Hotel's management are pleased to host Leetham House residents and are offering drinks and food at a discount of 20%. Dorothy, our celebrity resident pianist, will be playing the organ for our music component and Ian K, our Treasurer, will be asking the questions.

The LHCG has arranged a coach trip to the Helmsley and Rievaulx Abbey on Saturday, 2nd April 2022. The cost is £15 per person, which will cover the return trip. This trip is suitable for all ages with an optional walk from Helmsley to Rievaulx Abbey.
